VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNTIES AT DESERT SUN

2011-2012 SCHOOL YEAR

FALL 2011 OPPORTUNTIES

1.    PTO MEETING – September 20, 2011

Attend the PTO Meeting to learn about upcoming Desert Sun Events and Volunteer opportunities while earning an hour of volunteer credit.

2.    FALL FESTIVAL – NOVEMBER 5^TH, 2011

a.    Acquire donations for the Raffle Baskets and receive credit toward your volunteer hours.

b.    Sign up to volunteer on the afternoon before the festival, Friday November 4^th.

c.    Sign up to volunteer on the day of the Festival, Saturday November 5^th.

3.    PICTURES – Weeks of September 26^th and October 3rd

Class pictures will be taken the weeks of September 26^th and October 3^rd.  A parent volunteer will be needed from each class on the day of their photos to assist the photographer while pictures are being taken.

4.    YARD SALE – Friday October 21^st and Saturday October 22^nd

a.    Volunteer to help unload the pods and set up for the yard sale on Friday October 21^st.  Set up will occur from 12:00 until 4:30 p.m. 

b.    Volunteer to help clean up the yard sale and prep remaining items for donation on Saturday, October 22^nd from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

c.    Volunteer to help during the yard sale, Saturday October 22^nd starting at sunrise.

5.    BOOK FAIR – October 31^st through November 5^th

Volunteer to work a shift at the book fair.  Book fair will be open every morning that week and during the Fall Festival.

6.    MAINTENANCE

a.    Volunteer for the Desert Sun work day on the morning of November 19^th.

b.    Volunteer to assist with ongoing maintenance of the building, grounds, and gardens. 

7.    LIBRARY

Ongoing volunteers are needed to help process the library books.  Can be done while students in class.

8.    TEACHER APPRECIATION

Volunteer to make every teacher’s birthday a special day for them.

SPRING 2012 OPPORTUNITIES

1.    PTO MEETING – January 26, 2012

Attend the PTO Meeting to learn about upcoming Desert Sun Events and Volunteer opportunities while earning an hour of volunteer credit.

2.    YARD SALE – February 25, 2012

a.    Volunteer to help unload the pods and set up for the yard sale on Friday.  Set up will occur from 12:00 until 4:30 p.m. 

b.    Volunteer to help clean up the yard sale and prep remaining items for donation on Saturday, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

c.    Volunteer to help during the yard sale, Saturday starting at sunrise.

3.    SILENT AUCTION – March 31, 2012

a.  Acquire donations for the silent auction and earn credit toward your volunteer hours.

b.  Help set up for the night of the Silent Auction.

c.  Help during the night of the Silent Auction.

4.    BOOK FAIR – April 23^rd to the 28^th

Volunteer to work a shift at the book fair.  Book fair will be open every morning that week, plus the evening of the Camp Out.

5.    CAMP OUT – April 28, 2012

Volunteers needed Saturday night and Sunday morning to assist with tent set up, food, cooking, and clean up.

6.    TEACHER APPRECIATION

Volunteer to help coordinate the school wide Teacher Appreciation week at the end of the school year.
