Peg Brokaw founded Desert Sun Child Development Center, Inc. in 1978.

Desert Sun Child Development Center, Inc., is a non-profit corporation in the State of Arizona.

We are dedicated to being an excellent resource for parents as the major educators of their young children.

As a non-profit corporation we have an active Board of Directors who work with the Director to determine budget and policies.

The corporation has three divisions: Child Development (Parent/Toddler Interaction Program, Parent Participation Preschool and Parent Participation Primary School Kindergarten classes), Educational Services and Library Services.

All families of the community may join and participate regardless of religious, ethnic or disability background.

                     Trisha Lucas

Bachelors Degree in Family Resource and Human Development

Trisha Lucas has been involved with Desert Sun for over 14 years. She began as a teacher and became the Director of Education in 2003. This position assists her in pursuing her passion of working with young children and early childhood education. She is a strong advocate of the child as well as the family unit.

Masters Degree in Business Administration


Susan Femiani has been involved with Desert Sun for over 25 years. Starting out as a Desert Sun parent she has since ventured into the classroom and the office. Currently Susan works in the office maintaining the business side of the Center utilizing her MBA from Arizona State University.





Meet Teacher Regina

Regina Abraham Presents at NAEYC Annual Conference

Regina Abraham, Master Teacher of Transitional Kindergarten at Desert Sun Child Development Center, will be giving a presentation at the 2011 Annual Conference for the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). The NAEYC Annual Conference is the world’s largest gathering of early childhood educators providing sessions by highly qualified experts in child development. The conference will be November 2-5 in Orlando, Florida. We are all very proud that Teacher Regina will be one of the distinguished presenters at this year’s conference. The topic of her presentation will be “Cooking with young children: Incorporating math, science, literacy, and music into a cooking curriculum.” Regina has a Master’s Degree in Human Development and Family Studies, and worked as a lead teacher at Purdue Child Development Lab and at Arizona State University Child Study Lab before coming to Desert Sun six years ago. We thank Regina for her continued commitment to young children and her passion for early childhood education.
